Location
Location, location!
The Caloundra region is where the Sunshine Coast and your unforgettable holiday begin. An easy one hour’s drive north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway or half an hour’s drive south of the Sunshine Coast (Maroochy) Airport, Caloundra is the perfect beach getaway for families and couples.
Caloundra itself encompasses six different beaches – each with its own personality. They include Golden Beach, Bulcock Beach, Moffat, Shelly and Dicky and of course Kings Beach.
Kings Beach owes its popularity to two facts:
- it is Caloundra’s main surfing beach, home to both the Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club and the Caloundra Juniors Surf Life Saving Club, and
- South-east facing Kings Beach is protected by Moreton Island and is patrolled 365 days a year making it one of the safest and most enjoyable places to swim and holiday in Caloundra.
Kings Beach also features an elevated salt water pool, located on a natural rock platform at the northern end of the beach. The salt water pool is open to everyone and is particularly popular with families as it offers both shallow paddling areas and space to swim laps. Permanent shade sails and seating complete the picturesque setting.
Views to Moreton Island can be enjoyed both by beach-goers and guests at Capeview Apartments. A huge grassy reserve between the beach and holiday units provides plenty of shady respite as well as picnic and BBQ areas and fresh water showers. A giant water feature with timed spurts of water is great fun for the kids.
Kings Beach is the perfect location to enjoy all that the surrounding areas have to offer including:
- Pumicestone Passage, which is an easy walk south of Caloundra. At Bulcock Beach, visitors can enjoy still water swimming, riding either the incoming or outgoing tide up and down the beach, which is also patrolled by surf lifesavers. The fishing is also good off the beach and the walkways.
- The glorious Glass House Mountains, which provide a beautiful western backdrop whilst Maleny and Montville offer amazing natural attractions, shopping, wineries and restaurants.
- Noosa and all of its stylish shopping and dining;
- Sunshine Coast theme parks including Australia Zoo and Aussie World.
